An urgent appeal from the Syrian Women’s Network
On February 6, 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake ‎rocked southern Turkey, with aftershocks reaching ‎northern Syria, Lattakia, Aleppo, Hama, and Tartous. ‎The “White Helmets” designated northern Syria a total ‎catastrophe zone. The severity of the disaster is ‎aggravated by a shortage of facilities, shelter centers, ‎and safe gathering spots, in addition to the bad weather ‎and low temperatures.‎

The Syrian Women’s Network appeals to the United ‎Nations and its humanitarian bodies, the World Health ‎Organization, the governments of the European Union, ‎the United States, and all countries around the world to ‎expedite the provision of assistance and necessary aid, ‎including rescue teams, medicines, and all ‎organizations concerned with rescue and relief.‎

The Syrian Women’s Network expresses its heartfelt ‎condolences to the victims’ families. It wishes the ‎injured and wounded a swift recovery and urges all ‎nations to undertake their duties in the face of this ‎humanitarian disaster, warning that any delay would ‎result in an increase in civilian casualties and an even ‎worse disaster.‎
