Dear colleagues and partners,
December 9 completes seven years since the disappearance of the four activists Razan ZAITOUNEH, Nazim HAMMADI, Wael HAMADA, and Samira ALKHALIL in 2013, when the joint office of the Violations Documentation Center (VDC) in Syria, the Local Development and Small Projects-Support (LDSPS), and that of the Rising for Freedom magazine in the city of Douma in the countryside of Damascus were attacked by an armed group that kidnapped our four colleagues. Today, and despite the change in the controlling parties, their fate remains unknown.
The case of the four kidnapped colleagues (4 Douma) represents a practical example of the condition that the Syrian revolution has reached. Where the latter aspires to establish a civil democratic state based on freedom, justice, citizenship, respecting human rights and dignity, but it was left alone under the mercy of a criminal dictatorial regime and opportunistic groups that take religion as a cover for their non-national interests.
As this memorial approaches, the Local Development and Small-Projects Support (LDSPS), Families for Freedom Association (FfF), Baytna Organization and the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) would like to share with you a statement in which they demand the immediate disclosure of the fate of the four kidnapped colleagues in the Douma incident in December 2013, holding the kidnappers accountable, and having the international stakeholders in the Syrian issue bear their responsibilities,
In this regard, they invite you to participate in signing it via the link here no later than 18:00 Damascus time – 17:00 Paris time (+1 UTC) on Tuesday 08 December 2020.
As for publishing, the final version of the statement will be shared with the signatory organizations once it’s ready, while publication on the websites will be made at 11:00 Damascus time – 10:00 Paris time (+1 UTC) on 09 December 2020, and later on social media pages as well.
Kindly note that the statement will be issued including the names of all the signatory organizations without adding logos.
We appreciate your contribution to the signing of the joint statement.
